Criteo is preparing a major restructure
AdTech company Criteo is preparing a major restructuring that will affect about 10% of its 2,600 employees.
It doesn't necessarily mean that 10% of the staff will be laid off; some believe the adjustments will affect the sales division.
There's also speculation that the restructuring could lead to a potential sale of Criteo - the company has relatively inexpensive stock, low costs and more than $600 million in cash on hand.
Jeff Bezos to step down as Amazon CEO
Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos will leave his post later this year, turning the helm over to the company’s top cloud executive Andy Jassy.
Jassy joined Amazon in 1997 and has led Amazon’s Web Services cloud team since its inception.
Bezos said he will stay engaged in important Amazon projects but will also have more time to focus on the Bezos Earth Fund, his Blue Origin spaceship company, The Washington Post and the Amazon Day 1 Fund.
Alphabet revenue up 23% as core advertising business shows strong growth
Alphabet’s revenue grew 23% on an annualized basis in the fourth quarter of 2020.
That’s stronger growth than last year’s Q4, which came in at 17%, and shows Google’s advertising business is recovering well after a big slowdown in Q2 of last year.
Advertising revenue for the fourth quarter came out to $46.20 billion, up 22% from $37.93 billion in the same quarter last year.
Spotify reports fourth quarter 2020 earnings
The company ended 2020 with strong Q4 performance as the business delivered substantial MAU growth,subscriber additions that exceeded our guidance, an improvement in ARPU trends, acceleration of users who engage with podcast content, better than expected Gross Margin, and Free Cash Flow of €74 million.
Headwinds included the negative effects from FX movements, which were more severe than forecast and impacted revenue growth by 690 bps. Given the strong Q4 performance, the company believes it is well positioned for continued growth in 2021.
App Annie announces Its Top Publisher Award winners of 2020
This year, Asian headquartered publishers dominate the list, making up more than half (27) of The Top 52, including five of the top ten ranks.
Tencent, NetEase, and Activision Blizzard all held their respective spots as the top three publishers for the second year in a row.

Facebook tests pop-up for iPhone users before Ad Tracking Update
Facebook is testing a new full-screen prompt for iPhone users about the social network’s data collection in an effort to get ahead of a similar pop-up that Apple will soon require as part of an operating system software update.
The iOS 14 update, which hasn’t been rolled out yet for iPhones and iPads, will require app developers like Facebook to show users a pop-up asking for permission to “track you across apps and websites.” If users reject the request, it will be harder for Facebook to show those people targeted ads, which make up the bulk of the company’s revenue.
India might ban private cryptocurrencies like bitcoin and develop a national digital coin
The “Cryptocurrency and Regulation of Official Digital Currency Bill” moves “to create a facilitative framework for creation of the official digital currency to be issued by the Reserve Bank of India.”
Additionally, “the bill also seeks to prohibit all private cryptocurrencies in India, however, it allows for certain exceptions to promote the underlying technology of cryptocurrency and its uses.”
Google Ads changes Adult Policy
Google is making changes to its adult policy for Google Ads starting on March 29, 2021. Google said it will then start the "full enforcement" of these new policies four "ramping up over approximately four weeks."
The new policies are around sexually suggestive live streaming, sexually suggestive live chat, sexually suggestive role playing games, and general dating with sexually suggestive elements and themes.
In short, Google said that these content categories are still allowed, but Google will soon serve these on a restricted basis. Advertisers promoting this content may notice an impact to their campaigns.
