Vietnam tops region in online cross-border purchase volume
Vietnam has the highest average volume of cross-border online purchases of up to 104 orders per year in Southeast Asia, higher than the Southeast Asian average of 66. Thailand came in second with 75 purchases per year on average, followed by Singapore and the Philippines with 58 each.

Indonesia bans access to Steam, Epic Games, PayPal, and more
The Indonesian government has blocked access to a range of online services, including Steam, Epic Games, PayPal, and Yahoo after the companies failed to comply with a new requirement related to the country’s restrictive content moderation laws. In line with the rules, companies deemed “Private Electronic System Providers” must register with the government’s database to operate in the country.
Apple is planning to put ads right in the App Store’s Today tab
Apple is planning to show ads in the App Store’s Today tab and on individual app pages. The two new ad placements will expand upon the ads you can already see in the App Store’s search tab and in search results. Ads in the Today tab will appear in the larger card format used by other content in that tab, but you’ll see a small blue box with the word “Ad” inside it under the app’s name.

TikTok begins pilot testing HTML5 mini-games
TikTok wants to determine its users’ appetite for mobile gaming with the launch of “mini-games” that can be played inside the social video app and discovered through creators’ videos. TechCrunch learned and has now confirmed TikTok’s new gaming pilot quietly launched just weeks ago with a variety of new partners, including game developers Vodoo, Nitro Games, FRVR, Aim Lab and Lotum.
