Apple’s app tracking transparency feature will be enabled by default and arrive in ‘early spring’ on iOS

The company first announced at WWDC in June that app developers would have to ask users for permission in order to track and share their IDFA identifier for cross-property ad targeting purposes.
While iOS 14 launched in the fall, Apple delayed the tracking restrictions until 2021, saying it wanted to give developers more time to make the necessary changes.
The plan is to launch these changes in early spring, with a version of the feature coming in the next iOS 14 beta release.

India permanently bans TikTok and 58 other Chinese apps

India's ministry of electronics and information technology has issued fresh notices to make permanent a ban imposed on video app TikTok and 58 other Chinese apps in June.
When it first imposed the ban, the Indian government gave the 59 apps a chance to explain their position on compliance with privacy and security requirements.

The social network planned to say in a lawsuit that Apple gave preferential treatment to its own apps, while forcing restrictive rules onto third-party app developers like Facebook.
Facebook discussed filing the suit as recently as December. It is unclear if the company will move forward with any legal action.

Taboola is going public via SPAC

Taboola is the latest company seeking to go public via a special purpose acquisition company — more commonly known as a SPAC.
To achieve this, it will merge with ION Acquisition Corp., which went public in 2020 with the aim of funding an Israeli tech acquisition.
The transaction is expected to close in the second quarter, and the combined company will trade on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol TBLA.

Facebook stock was up in after-hours trading on Wednesday after the company reported its fourth-quarter earnings. Facebook warned that the looming changes in Apple’s iOS 14 and a reversal in pandemic trends could hurt its advertising business.
In the U.S. and Canada, Facebook’s user base fell to 195 million daily active users from 196 million a quarter earlier.
Facebook’s “Other” revenue came in at $885 million for the quarter, up 156% compared to last year. That accounted for more than 3% of Facebook’s revenue in the quarter.

Amazon changes conditions for charging commission payments

From 1 February 2021, Amazon is expanding on changes introduced in 2018 that reward associates for driving targeted traffic to selected categories of products.
Commission levels have expanded in both directions. However, in most cases, associates will receive reduced commissions.
Only those associates will get increased commission, who link directly to selected product categories.
